Whether it is your first or your fifth child, you and your body have gone through many changes during pregnancy. Chiropractic care can help alleviate some of the common aches like nausea, headaches, heartburn, low back and hip pain. During pregnancy, the body expands and opens. Once postpartum, we want to make sure your spinal structure is sound in supporting your body while everything is coming back together, so you can get back to feeling your best.

Gentle chiropractic adjustments for infants can naturally treat conditions like colic, constipation, and ear infections, as well as help prevent your child from getting sick. Chiropractic adjustments can support the alignment of cranial bones in infancy, which can improve latching.

 

During childhood, regular adjustments can help children adapt and grow through all of life’s bumps and falls. Childhood chiropractic care has been shown to improve learning difficulties and support well-rounded kiddos.

Occasionally in pregnancy, a baby will be positioned in “breech,” meaning that the baby is head-up or transverse in the womb. The ideal position for birth has the baby head-down (also knows as “vertex”). Early on in pregnancy, the baby can move freely in the womb, but as the baby grows, their positioning becomes more important. This is because  the amount of available space decreases further along in pregnancy. Ideally, we would  start working as soon as 24-26 weeks to promote a head-down position. That being said, this session is still beneficial to someone even in the final weeks of their pregnancy.

In a Breech Baby Bodywork session, our goal is to create more space in the womb by softening and releasing muscles and ligaments. We expand on the Spinning Babies “Three Sisters of Balance” technique by adding soft tissue releases and chiropractic pelvic adjustments.

Cocoon offers individual and small group yoga classes, specializing in Prenatal and Postpartum. All experience levels benefit from movement therapy, whether it’s your first yoga class or your hundredth.

 

During pregnancy, staying active and mobile can have tremendous benefits for you and the baby. Yoga helps with joint lubrication, muscle tone and mental clarity, helping you feel grounded and present throughout pregnancy.

 

After the baby arrives, yoga can help you regain strength and confidence in your body, mindfulness, inspiration and a deeper connection to yourself.

 

In a private session, each class is tailored to your individual needs, working with your structural balance and alignment to cultivate more body awareness by linking movement with breath.

 

Dr. Nadia is certified in Prenatal Yoga from both Mama Tree and One Down Dog. She also holds a 200-hour Yoga Teaching Certificate from YogaWorks.

Dr. Nadia will create a custom steam plan based on your unique needs that will include the frequency and duration of sessions, as well as which recommended herb blend would be best suited.
